TAS 2024 EVENT SUMMARY
The inaugural TheatreMania Africa Summit (TAS) was held on November 29, 2024, at Shodex Gardens, Lagos, as a precursor to the 2025 TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF). CEO and co-founder Alayande Stephen emphasized embracing technology in theatre, citing innovations like digital projections, VR, and robotics. Industry veterans, including Dr. Akin Lewis and Norbert Young, stressed reinvention through technology. Legal and industry leaders supported TAS’s role in fostering collaboration and cultural exchange. The summit set the stage for TAF 2025, which will feature theatre performances, exhibitions, and awards. Sponsors like Platos Health and QUIDBOT gained visibility. TAS successfully united stakeholders, reinforcing that technology and innovation will shape African theatre’s future.
Speakers and panelists included Nobert Young, Akin Lewis, Dr. Tunji Sotimirin, Thandekile Maseko, Segun Adefila, Julius Olaolu Oyekanmi, Zani Challe, Lydia Hagan, Owen Gee, Joseph Edgar, AJ Dagga Tolar, Kingsley Omoefe, Helen Sosu-Ezirim, and Uwagbai Paul amongst others.
